B Corp Certification

Why B Corp?

If your company has a greater purpose, and wants to demonstrate its credentials not just on the environment but also with suppliers, workers, customers and clients, B Corp certification is for you. It’s the gold standard for better business and companies who certify are truly following the model of people, planet and profit.

Why take part?

The B Impact Assessment (BIA) is a comprehensive evaluation that determines a company’s impact not just on the environment but also on their community, employees and customers. The BIA measures social and environmental impact through a deep dive into internal policies, partnerships, environmental outputs, social contributions and methods employed to ensure a positive impact on people and the planet.

Does it cover the UN Sustainable Development Goals?

The B Corp Impact Assessment focuses on governance, environment, workers, customers and community. It can also map the UN Sustainable Development Goals, through the SDG Impact Assessment. Becoming a B Corp is one way to embed policies and procedures that help to ensure a fair and equitable workplace for everyone and see progress towards the UN SDGs. You can download a copy of our UN SDG brochure here.

The B Corp Assessment is a free tool that can be used by anyone who wants an impact audit regardless of whether that means certification or not. Not only is the Assessment a great tool to measure and monitor your company’s impact, but it is also  educational. You will discover aspects of social and environmental impact you have never considered as a problem.

All Ireland B Corp Bootcamp

Earthology and eccountinc have come together North and South of the border to create the All Ireland B Corp Bootcamp to support Irish companies to complete the Impact Assessment and start their journey to becoming a B Corp.

How it works

A “Couch to 5k” approach is taken, to ensure that you progress at a steady pace that is not too time consuming for a busy business committed to improving their impact.

The Ten Step Programme is split into two separate phases (normally across 3 months). Phase One covers the first five steps, each of which covers one of the five sections of the B Impact Assessment. At the end of Phase One a RAG report is produced to help guide the following few sessions then focus on any issues and gaps that need to be addressed, together with ensuring that the appropriate evidence is in place. Assistance with all necessary documentation, policies, processes and surveys are also provided. The programme is delivered as part of a small cohort of like-minded companies. This format is enhanced by collective knowledge, support, accountability, and networking.

Testimonial

“My biggest take away from the bootcamp was the sense that the accreditation process was not just demystified but also made feel very achievable. It went from an opaque and slightly scary thing on the horizon to a transparent, even though quite long, journey with clearly identified steps. I would 100% recommend the bootcamp to anybody considering undertaking the process of becoming B Corp accredited.”
